And I have created a couple of prizes that everyone will be able to claim the event. What are they? Here's a small hint…

What is it?

Since the point of this blog hop is to go behind the scenes, so allow me to bring you into the darkness…

To Love and Protect His Omega is a romance with a murder mystery. About halfway through the manuscript, I had a sudden inspiration to write short, POV “interludes” from the killer's POV. They are radically different in style and substance from the rest of the book. I really didn't have enough of these to make it worth it, so I asked Leslie Copeland, my wonderful beta, what I should do.

She said…heck no!

Her judgment is always top notch, so I cut them. I never intended to let them see the light of day again, but since we're going behind the scenes here, I figure, why not?

So here is the first of three deleted interludes from To Love and Protect His Omega, from the killer's point of view.

Interlude:

I didn't want the whore to remind me of you. He was tall for an omega, and his hair was the wrong shade of blonde, but when he smiled, I saw your smile.

I offered him money, and when he didn't take me up on that, I offered him the little blue pills. I held him, kissed him softly, desperate to bring the remains of goodness I knew were buried deep within. He didn't deserve to hold them. He rubbed against me and offered garish compliments about my body, my cock. I endured it. It aroused me, but I didn't succumb. I hadn't forgotten you. I will never forget you.

When my bearer dad left, my father, looking up from the dregs of a bottle of Wild Turkey explained, “Son, you never understand love until it betrays you. Remember that.”

I know love now.

I took the whore to the shed behind the house I’m renting and tried to make him worthy. To transform him like a caterpillar transforms through the darkness into something beautiful.

But in the end, he was just a whore. No matter how hard I squeezed, no butterfly emerged.

End of Interlude.

You might ask yourself, “butterfly, wtf?”

I think I honestly just had Silence of The Lambs in the back of my mind and didn't realize it.

I have two more of these interludes written. What do you think? Do you want another one? Or are you thinking, yup, so glad this omegaverse romance didn't actually take us so dark? Let me know in the comments!
