Omega Sacrifice- Chapter 2

Blurb for Omega Sacrifice: One is ruthless. One is deceived. One will win.

An alpha of the Pine Creek Lake pack killed Devon's father. But when Devon discovers his true mate amongst his enemies, will a forbidden love force Devon to choose between his pack and his heart?

Seeing the love of his life choose another, Zeke faces a bleak future as an omega with no hope of a mate. But when he stumbles into the arms of a strange and handsome alpha, is this a second chance for a happy ending? Or will he be cast aside…again?

Star-crossed mates must make the ultimate sacrifice to save each other.

Ever since Zeke was a cub, before he understood the idea of alpha, beta, and omega, and before he really understood what it meant to mate, he had been in love with Silas. Maybe because they were both misfits. Though Silas was an alpha, he’d always been short and whipcord thin with a too long face and too close-set eyes. To Zeke, he was perfect. They’d even held hands once, a year ago, as Tremaine and Mark set off fireworks beneath a perfect velvet sky.

Omegas were supposed to be delicate, enchanting, graceful, and beautiful. As a cub, Zeke had been cherubic. He'd never grown out of his baby fat. Even as a wolf, he wheezed when he ran too hard, and while he was a lot stronger than he looked with what Silas described as a ‘wicked sense of humor,’ Zeke didn't turn heads. None of the alphas wanted him. Not that it mattered because Silas, too, had remained uninterested in the other omegas and even betas of their pack.

Until tonight.

Until Zeke had seen Silas and Bethany kissing and had smelled the growing scent of her heat.

At least it was raining, so Zeke could ignore the hot streams of his tears beneath the cold weeping of the sky above. Small miracles.

But the stab of desire Zeke felt for the alpha standing naked and glorious in front of him wiped Silas from his mind.

Devon stood like a statue carved of walnut-shaded marble, his gaze brown lined in gold, his hair an inky wave, lips thin, chest wide and furred in black, tapering to narrow hips and long, lean legs. His cock was alpha-sized. As Devon met Zeke’s gaze, that glorious member began to swell and rise. Zeke wanted to touch it. To touch him.

It was ridiculous. What would this perfect alpha want with Zeke, whom nobody wanted?

He probably just got turned on because, in spite of everything, Zeke was an omega. Maybe Zeke was near his heat? Maybe he was dreaming? If so, he didn't want to wake up.

“What are you doing here?” Zeke asked after Devon had put on a pair of damp black sweatpants that hugged his sculpted ass and hips. “Are you lost? I can take you to our —”

“No! I mean, I'm fine.”

It didn't make any sense. What was a strange alpha doing skulking around the edge of their settlement in the middle of the night in this torrential downpour? Maybe Devon was on the run? Maybe he had broken a law of his pack, and now they were hunting him?

Way to be dramatic, Zeke.

Devon was probably just lost. But if he was lost, why wouldn't he accept help? Something was strange here.

“You have my word that no one's going to hurt you. I'll introduce you to the others: Donovan, our pack alpha, or Mark. Maybe you want to meet Mark first?” Why would Devon care about Mark as opposed to any other of the other alphas? Zeke wanted to slap himself when he ran off at the mouth like this. “I'm sorry. It's just Mark usually knows what to do. Like when Peter got lost in the storm, and he found Gale and—”

“Gale?”

“Do you know him?” Were they from the same pack? For the first time since Zeke had laid eyes on the strange alpha, a stab of fear went through him. Gale didn't talk about what he had endured in his previous pack. He didn't talk about his past at all. But Zeke had seen the bruises on Gale's face, and he knew that Mark had challenged Gale’s alpha mate and killed him.

Any crime that would compel Mark to mete out his own justice was severe.

This alpha, Devon, tall and beautiful with sculpted muscle and not a mark on him clearly had nothing to fear. If he was from Gale’s pack, then he might hurt Zeke. The alpha musk and desire in his eyes were enough to make that danger clear. Zeke took a step back, readying himself to shift.

But Zeke didn't even have time to flinch before the alpha grabbed his wrist. The heat of his touch, the scent of him, held Zeke somewhere between lust and fear. “Don't hurt me,” Zeke said, stupidly. “My pack will know if something happens to me.”

Right, if you found a way to tell them. If not, you’d just be another idiot omega lost in the woods. Why not just hand the handsome alpha a knife and beg him to slit your throat, why don't you?

“I won't. I'd never hurt you.”

Devon sounded sincere. He pulled Zeke closer. Zeke looked up and felt the heat of Devon’s breath on his forehead. Devon ran the pad of his thumb on Zeke's cheek, below his eye. “Why were you crying?”

Silas and his rejection seemed a faraway problem, considering the alpha in front of him. Zeke shrugged. “It's not important.”

“You're beautiful.”

Zeke laughed. Even at his best, he could be described as cute. Beautiful was for the thin and graceful omegas with long limbs and flat, glistening abdomens above narrow hips and shapely legs. Beautiful was for the omegas that could run without wheezing. The ones who didn't need to make an ass out of themselves to get noticed. “What are you really doing here?”

“Just running.”

“I need to take you to see Don. And meet the pack.” And Zeke wanted to do that too. He wanted to show off this handsome alpha who had called him beautiful. Even if the compliment was meant to be a distraction from why he was really sneaking around the Pine Creek Lake settlement.

“I can't,” Devon said. “Not now.”

Zeke breathed deeply and opened his mouth to scream as loudly as he could. Before he could make a sound, the alpha's lips were on his, and they were kissing. Hard and demanding, the heat of Devon’s mouth sent tingles through Zeke’s body. He pulled the alpha closer, grabbing him by the hips until he felt Devon's hard cock through the sodden fabric of the sweatpants against Zeke's pelvis.

Hard for him.

The scream was forgotten. Everything was forgotten except for the velvet planes of Devon's body, the sweet dominance of his kiss, and his hands, letting go of Zeke's wrists to wrap Zeke in a tight embrace.

Zeke was panting when Devon broke the kiss. But unlike usual, the faint dizziness from lack of air was another reminder of the pleasure and desire Zeke felt.

Devon hugged him tightly, pressing Zeke's cheek to his neck.

Was this what it meant to find your true mate? If so, Zeke never wanted it to end. But maybe that's what Gale had felt too with his first alpha. Just because hormones threw Devon and Zeke together didn't mean that he would have a good life with Devon. It could all be a trick. It probably was a trick. What would a handsome, perfectly formed alpha want with Zeke?

Zeke couldn't deny the evidence of the other man's arousal, but that didn't prove anything.

“Why are you here?” Zeke asked again. From the darkness behind him, another voice, sardonic and a touch cruel, asked, “Yes, cousin, why don't you tell the sweet, plump omega what we are doing here? Or would you rather I just ripped out his throat?”

Omega Sacrifice – Chapter 5 (Shifter Mpreg Romance)

Though Angus had assured Devon that the explosives near the Pine Creek Lake settlement were meant to be a distraction, Devon didn’t like taking that risk. Especially now that he knew his true mate was a part of this pack. Though Zeke's pack seemed foolishly comfortable with allowing young alphas and omegas to have free access to each other, Zeke didn't seem damaged by it.
